Precious Encouragements – July 2007

March 29, 2009

07/01/07 : The character of Archie Bunker was created so that the audience would laugh AT the racist, not WITH the racist. Subsequently, properly weilded (for lack of a better term) “cringe” humor is based on laughing AT something because it is so horrible, not WITH something because it is so horrible.”

07/08/07: You don’t have to do every survey or meme someone tags you with. You can be selective. In fact, the people you eventually tag with a survey or meme will thank you for your selectiveness.

07/15/07: Just go here…http://www.deepthoughtsbyjackhandey.com/ If tooling around in there for a while doesn’t preciously encourage you, there is no hope for you.

07/22/07: “How do you know who your daddy is? Because your mama told you so?” — from the movie “JFK.”

07/29/07: “Life is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless, perfunctory gift that nobody ever asks for. Unreturnable because all you get back is another box of chocolates. So you’re stuck with this undefinable whipped mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down when there’s nothing else left to eat. Sure, once in a while there’s a Peanut Butter Cup or an English Toffee. But they’re gone too fast and the taste is… fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits filled with hardened jelly and teeth-shattering nuts. And if you’re desperate enough to eat those, all you got left is an empty box… filled with useless brown paper wrappers.” —The Cigarette Smoking Man, The X-Files.

These have been your Precious Encouragements of July 2007.
